On edge? At the edge?

Kim Scott - award-winning author, 2012 West Australian of the Year and 2019 inductee into the WA Writers Hall of Fame - will speak about his introduction to literature and the ways in which books and other language artefacts might spring from, and also replenish, the stories, history and people of a particular geographic place. Kim Scott is an award-winning novelist, having twice won the Miles Franklin Award (for Benang and That Deadman Dance) among many other Australian literary prizes. His most recent novel is Taboo. Proud to be one among those who call themselves Noongar, Kim is also founder and chair of Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories (www.wirlomin.com.au ). Kim is currently Professor of Writing in the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry at Curtin University.

Visiting authors: Will Yeoman, Jon Doust, Sarah Drummond, Sam Carmody, Yann Toussaint, Andrea Gaynor, Briony Stewart, Mark Greenwood and Frane Lessac.
